FIA Formula 2 will compete at Silverstone this weekend, and PREMA Racing is looking forward to the British round of the 2021 series at the state-of-the-art British Grand Prix venue.
Coming from a positive run at the Baku Street Circuit, the team is aiming to keep the pace at Silverstone with the competitive pairing of Robert Shwartzman and Oscar Piastri.
Sitting in the green countryside of Northamptonshire, the 5.9-kilometre circuit is an extremely challenging one, with plenty of fast corners and chances for passing. Tyre management will be crucial too. Ferrari Driver Academy member Shwartzman wants to make good use of his experience. The 21-year-old Russian raced at Silverstone in both F3 and F2 in the last couple of years.
Despite being a series rookie, 20-year Piastri had a good amount of running at the UK track in the past and proved to be a quick learner. Representing the Alpine Academy, he is currently P2 in driver standings, right in front of his teammate.
Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"Silverstone is a fascinating but also extremely challenging venue because of the multi-faceted approach it requires. To win there, you need to be perfect in many different compartments, from racecraft to set-up, strategy and tyre management. That said, we are confident in our preparation work, and we know our drivers can deal with what is required. Their efforts enabled us to climb to the top of the team ranking, and we don't want to move away from that position!"
