From one street circuit to another, a very different one, PREMA Racing will be back running in Azerbaijan this weekend as the FIA Formula 2 Championship moves away from Monte Carlo and lines up for round 3 of 2021 at Baku.

The circuit runs from the long shoreline straight to the narrow Icheri Sheher old town through the stunning medieval city walls. The result is a 6-km challenging mix of equally unforgiving high and low-speed sections. Set-up is crucial there, and as well as for Monte Carlo, teams need to perform straight away.

PREMA Racing will start the weekend with Oscar Piastri second in the drivers' championship. The 20-year-old Australian rookie has one win so far and is focused on keeping the momentum gained. On the other hand, 21-year-old Russian Robert Shwartzman showed great potential but faced hard luck in the first two events of 2021. He is now determined to make his experience come into play even though he will also be driving at Baku for the first time.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal

"Running at Baku presents us with some unique situations. The mix of different types of corners, and the typical challenges of street course racing make it incredibly tricky. However, we had decent results there in the past and we have two really adaptable drivers. They showed so much potential in the first two rounds of the season that we feel they have what we need to be contenders. We are working to maximize everything so we can stay at the front and fight.
