R07 Silverstone - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

PREMA back on-track for more success at Silverstone

R07 Silverstone - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

Coming from its first Feature Race win of the season at Baku, PREMA Racing will be back to one of the most traditional venues of the FIA Formula 2 Championship calendar at Silverstone. The 5.9 kilometre British track brought good results to the team in the past, and coming from two events on street courses, the team is looking forward to start the upcoming part of the season with good momentum on more traditional circuits. Featuring a balanced variety of corners, Silverstone is a good proving ground for teams and drivers, with the weather often coming into play.

With five podium finishes, including four second places, 23-year-old Jehan Daruvala is standing third in the championship points. The Indian, who is still chasing his first win of the season, has shown great race pace although qualifying will be crucial to maximise his chances especially for the high points paying feature races. Daruvala also had the chance to run at Silverstone, having completed his maiden Formula 1 test last week.

Hauger, on the other hand, has won two races, but a tough start of the season meant that he had to recover in terms of championship points. The 19-year-old Norwegian rookie is now standing fifth in the championship, but with many races still to go and many points to grab on the table, there are massive gains to make ahead of the second half of the season.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal

"The last couple of events showed great progress for our team and drivers and as the Silverstone event marks the half point of the season, we need to solidify that growth to take it into a challenging series of events all on classic circuits of the series. Reconfirming the good things we showed at Monte Carlo and Baku on a traditional type of circuit could give us a definite boost in terms of championship chances. We know this championship has razor-thin margins  and all the teams work incredibly hard, so if we want to make another step, we have to aim for perfection and for continued improvement."
