PREMA goes back running at the legendary Italian venue
PREMA Racing will line up for the second round of the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend at Imola. The team is coming from two poles and two wins in the opening event at Monza and hopes to continue with the same pace at its second home event of the year, on a track where it got its first series win last season.
The Imola track needs no introduction, as it's one of the most challenging of the sport, featuring high-speed corners and elevation changes. As an additional variable, the weather forecasts are predicting rain for this week, especially on Friday and Saturday.
Championship leader Dino Beganovic is aiming to bring home more silverware after getting one pole, one win, and one second place at Monza, and will be back to the same track that handed him his first win in single-seaters in F4.
Paul Aron was equally impressive in the season opener, and only a mechanical issue prevented him from fulfilling his potential over the whole weekend. However, a pole and win in Race 2 at Monza set the tone for more expectations.
Sebastian Montoya also experienced remarkable success, capturing two rookie wins in his first run in the series after moving up from Formula 4.
Making the same, exciting step, Hamda Al Qubaisi showed a positive pace, improving her lap times in difficult weather situations.
Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"We got an amazing start at Monza, but this championship is extremely challenging and multi-faceted, and with so many drivers separated by mere hundreds of a second, every kind of issue can have a massive impact on the whole weekend. While nobody is 100 percent bulletproof, we are working to take the potential we showed at Monza into the following events, carrying on the momentum and the great motivation that the whole team is having."
