PREMA Powerteam will be back with its Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine operation this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps as the Belgian track will be home to the sixth round of the 2021 season.
Coming from a few hard breaks in the earlier couple of events, the team is eager for a rebound to capitalize on the positives seen in its most recent outing at Zandvoort.
Prema will field the usual line-up consisting of Paul Aron, David Vidales and Dino Beganovic. The 17-year-old Estonian is currently headlining the team's contingent in the driver standings having scored three podium finishes and good points. Spaniard Vidales (19) showed impressive form in race trim, which allowed him to take one win, but has been absent from the podium ever since and is fully focused on making a bold comeback. Last but not least, 17-year-old Swedish rookie Dino Beganovic will make his first start at Spa-Francorchamps and hopes to find the right chemistry straight away.
The weekend's programme featured one day of collective testing on Wednesday and race 1 relatively late at 19:25 on Saturday, followed by an early race 2 at 11:35 on Sunday.
Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"We are starting the second half of the 2021 season, and to do that in a legendary place like Spa-Francorchamps is highly motivating. Having made a positive step forward at Zandvoort, we are hoping to see good results here in Belgium. We will start with one day of collective testing, so there will be time to fine-tune our race cars and to learn the track, especially for Dino who is running here for the first time. Forecasts say that there are chances of rain for the races. That will be an additional element to take into consideration, and a variable we are hoping to manage!"
