PREMA Racing faced a challenging race today as the FIA Formula 3 Championship lined-up for race 2 at Silverstone, completing the doubleheader at the British venue. Having won yesterday, American Logan Sargeant, was forced to start from P10 on the reversed grid, and fell victim to attrition after an early attempt to fight back. Having lost touch in a battle with fellow teammate Frederik Vesti amidst a train of cars with DRS, Sargeant dropped back and was eventually touched by another car hard enough to break his rear left suspension and forcing him to retire.
Australian Oscar Piastri delivered an aggressive start as usual but dropped back a bit in the middle stages. The talented Australian found himself shuffled to P7 after being nudged by a contender while fighting for the top-5. He eventually managed to make a great late pass for the sixth position. After posting another positive fourth place in Race 1, Vesti started from seventh place and navigated his way through the difficult Silverstone traffic and DRS trains. He finished in P8 to take three points.
While PREMA Racing leads the way in the team championship, Sargeant and Piastri are 1-2 in the driver championship, separated by just one point.
#1 - Oscar Piastri
"Not the greatest of races. I lost quite a few spots early, then gained a couple back before the end so I finished P6. It wasn't really what I was hoping for coming into today but we did a decent job of damage limitation given the issues we had. I'm looking forward to getting to Barcelona."
#2 - Frederik Vesti
"It has been an eventful weekend. In race 2 we ended P8 with a lot of fighting. It was a difficult race but the pace in the middle part of it was really strong and I had a lot of opportunities also fighting with Oscar. We need to improve and I'm looking forward to the next race."
#3 - Logan Sargeant
"Not a good day for me really. I knew it was going to be difficult starting from P10, but I just didn't get it together, then had a crash that ended my day. There's really nothing much to say, but I'm really looking forward to Barcelona."
