PREMA Racing and Logan Sargeant posted a runaway win today at Silverstone. The 19-year-old American took off from pole and went on to dominate the day, sailing to his first career win in the series after showing so much form. By doing so, he also moved into the championship lead in front of teammate Oscar Piastri.
Frederik Vesti started from P4, but had his fair share of fighting and eventually managed to retain the position at the end and bring more points to his tally.
After suffering from an electrical issue in qualifying, Piastri put up an amazing race in an extremely hard-fought pack. Starting from P11, the 19-year-old Australian moved up to seventh place in the end. He is second and in close pursuit in driver points.
Having now scored wins with all three drivers, PREMA Racing is set for race 2 on Sunday with Sargeant starting from the reverse grid in P10 and Piastri with a good chance to fight back.
#1 - Oscar Piastri
"Seventh place is not bad. We managed to finish the session after some earlier issues this weekend. The pace was really strong at the start, just a bit difficult in the DRS train as normal. We have a good starting spot for tomorrow and we will have a good opportunity to fight for the win."
#2 - Frederik Vesti
"We had a good pace, and we had a great fight with Lawson and Pourchaire so I had to attack and defend at the same time which made the race very tricky. The car was good. The tyres stayed nice for the whole race and we had the pace to attack every lap. We had the fastest lap for a long time, and it was beaten by just a half tenth at the end. It shows that the pace is there. We are looking for wins and we will keep working really hard for that. Anyway, P4 means good points. In race 2 we will just have to go for it and keep our head down to see what we can do better."
#3 - Logan Sargeant
"My first win in F3 feels amazing. I was able to capitalize on my mistakes last weekend and didn't make the same ones this time around. I'm super happy with that, and now on to tomorrow, with a long race in front of us and a lot of positions to make. We'll do the best we can."
