Mick Schumacher scored a highly-valuable third place in qualifying for the fourth round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Silverstone. The 21-year-old German made the most of his last stint and stormed back at the front end of the charts in the closing stages. He secured a row 2 spot for tomorrow's feature race. His pace establishes him as a threat for the longest race of the weekend.

On the other hand, Robert Shwartzman finished the session in the 18th position. After facing a troubled run which included a tough timing call for track positioning, and heavy traffic, the championship leader had to sit out of the top-10 and settle for a row 9 start.

The classic British circuit is expected to provide great action, with tire degradation expected to come massively into play and strategy opportunities creating more chances to recover.

“That was really fun! The car felt great again and I am very happy that this was reflected on the times monitor. Third place is a very good starting position for tomorrow's race. After two podium finishes in Budapest we are all hungry for more. Our good pace leaves us pretty confident, because we've always been able to add a bit more in the race so far.”

“It's been a disappointing day, to be honest. Traffic was the biggest issue for sure, but there is a lot we have to improve. We didn't have the best timing going out of the pits, and in general, a lot of things did not click. When the lap times are so close, these issues can cost you a lot of positions. We have to improve and keep focused. We know that if we work well, we can fight back."
