PREMA Racing brought home extremely consistent results in the rain-affected race 2 of the FIA Formula 3 Championship at Hungaroring. Despite the renversement of the top-10 after race 1, Aussie Oscar Piastri secured another podium finish in second place, fighting for what would have been an eventual win. The Renault Sport Academy driver was able to further increase his championship lead.
Floridian Logan Sargeant grabbed a valuable fourth place, once again maximizing the points even in tricky conditions. Still, in second place in the driver standings, he will continue to pursue his first win of the season in the coming rounds at Silverstone.
Frederik Vesti rounded out a disappointing weekend with his second DNF in two days, once again caused by attrition, despite showing great potential. Exiting the Hungarian weekend of the series, PREMA Racing remains at the top of the team standings.
#1 – Oscar Piastri
"Another second place, which is great from ninth on the grid. I got a good start and we seemed really quick at the beginning, but I think before the safety-car my rear tires went away a bit so I struggled for a while. After the safety car, we were super quick again. Just unfortunate with the last safety car, I think we could have challenged for the win. We got another podium, another fastest lap, three in a row on Sundays which is a good record."
#2 – Frederik Vesti
"It has been a very tough weekend after a decent qualifying performance. After the DNF in turn 1 in the first race, we had quite a good speed in race 2, but I had an incident with another car driving straight into me on a corner exit, so I had to retire again due to the damage. Obviously, it is not ideal, but we will fight back. We know we have the speed and the potential for the season. We are going to prepare Silverstone in the best possible way."
#3 – Logan Sargeant
"It was a weekend of what could have been. We had a really good qualifying and then we just struggled a bit in both races. We need to look into that, analyze, and I'm looking forward to taking this. I think we can have just to reset, have a bit of a break from racing for a little while and try to come back refreshed and better. Anyways, we are still second in the championship, well within fighting distance, so we will come back to try to catch the leader."
