Unfortunately, a later off into the gravel trap while he was second deprived him of a certain podium finish.

Russian Shwartzman had an even stronger run at the start, recovering up to P5 from eighth place. After coming in for an earlier stop which saw a min, he had his fair share of fighting in the second half of the race. After coming out of an earlier pit in the midpack, he crossed swords with former teammate Marcus Armstrong in a spectacular battle. Shwartzman put up a bold charge but avoided to take huge risks, thinking to championship points and celebrating his first F2 podium.
