Prema Racing scored a double top-10 finish today at Bahrain International Circuit. Having to deal with the tough environmental conditions of the Al Sakhir venue, the team’s pairing went for opposite tire strategies in the second and final race of the weekend.
Starting from the top-8 reverse grid pole, Mick Schumacher kept the same set of Pirelli tires for the whole 23-lap distance and carefully managed the degradation. The 20-year-old German eventually crossed the finishing line in 6th place by scoring his second points finish of the weekend.
Starting from the back of the pack due to a DRS issue in race 1, Indonesian Sean Gelael soon dived into the pits for a fresh set of tires. Gelael then put up a massive recovery, fighting his way up to the top-10 in impressive fashion.

“I would be lying if I said I am completely satisfied with how the race went today but there was not much I could do. Unfortunately the lock up in Qualifying compromised the strategy for this race. All in all it was a weekend which taught us a lot, and I am confident that we will translate that to the track.”

“We gained 10 positions from 20th to 10th and I think we have to be happy with our overall performance even though the result was zero points. I think we have to be positive with how our performance was over the weekend, and work on from that. The comeback is always better than the setback, so I think we should be back in the points at Baku.”
