PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing brought home valuable points in unpredictable conditions today at Circuit Paul Ricard, in the feature race for the FIA Formula 2 Championship ran at the southern French venue. With damp conditions, teams and drivers faced tough variables and Dutchman Nyck de Vries eventually took sixth place, despite his pre-race strategy turned out to be less than ideal on wet. After starting on prime tires, De Vries moved to options and set the fastest lap of the race en-route to his P6 finish. He will start race 2 from the second row on the grid. After putting up an impressive early showing, Indonesian racer Sean Gelael retired on lap 8 after spinning in wet conditions .

"It was my mistake. We know that we were quick, these are the conditions that I favor. I overtook Nyck, but then I spun on power. The spin wasn't the real issue rather than re-starting and going again. It's a shame because the potential was really there, but tomorrow is another day."

"We finished P6 with also the points for the fastest lap so in the end, it makes the points for P5. I think we should take it gracefully after such a hectic race. However, we did the right call starting on primes. If it would not have rained we would have been in clean air and our pace would have been able to make up a lot of positions. Unfortunately, it rained, and with the primes, at the start of the race in the wet against the supersofts, we just didn't have a chance. We were losing temperature and it was really difficult to remain competitive. As soon as the track dried, we showed very good pace and I think we should take the positives onto tomorrow. Points wise, with everything that happened, it could have been a lot worse."
