For the second round of the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, PREMA Theodore Racing will be back to the Hungaroring. The same venue, located in the outskirts of the Hungarian capital, where the team brought home two wins in 2017. Coming from a very positive run in the opening round of the year at Pau, with two wins, one of them a 1-2 finish, the team is looking forward to a particularly friendly environment, which also hosted the first round of preseason testing. The weather is expected to be much warmer on race day, with expected temperatures in excess of 30 degrees Celsius.

Currently headlining the team’s five-car effort in points, Estonian Ralf Aron is eager for more success after his Pau Grand Prix win and has the championship lead in sight. Two years ago, he scored a stunning maiden win at Hungaroring only in his second appearance in the series. Relying on the same amount of experience, Ferrari Driver Academy man Guanyu Zhou will be back on a track where he got great results in the past, namely two podium finishes in the last two seasons. At his second year in the series, German racer Mick Schumacher also has good memories from Hungary, having been among the fastest in testing.

Last but not least, the FDA rookie combination of Marcus Armstrong and Robert Shwartzman is on the rise. The New Zealander celebrated his maiden podium finish at Pau, and the Russian was also impressive in tricky conditions securing a triple top-10 result.

René Rosin - Team Manager
“The Hungaroring is a perfect place to race after a pretty unique opener at the Pau street circuit. It’s a really technical circuit where we always got good results in the past. It will provide an opportunity to see where everybody is at in terms of pace and potential. Our drivers are also well suited by it, and both Aron and Zhou already had the chance to taste some real success there which is a cool starting point.  Mick did great in preseason testing and our rookies also showed good form there so we’re definitely eager to see how they will perform.”
