The strong relationship between Prema Powerteam and Antonio Fuoco will continue in 2014 after the Italian combination won the F.Renault 2.0 ALPS championship together in 2013. The 17-year-old racer, part of the Ferrari Driving Academy, will drive a Mercedes-powered Dallara in the 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, lining-up for a team that already enjoyed considerable success in the series, with several titles on their roll of honor.
The wins and pole positions scored by Fuoco during his maiden open-wheel season, that brought him the F.Renault ALPS honours, persuaded the Prema management to put full trust in his abilities for a demanding program in European competition.
Lining-up as a rookie, Fuoco will face a brand-new challenge with the same determination that has been a key factor in his career so far.
René Rosin – Team manager
“I’m very happy to continue the work we started with Fuoco in last season’s F.Renault 2.0 ALPS series. He has some superb potential and his career so far reminds me Raffaele Marciello. Prema is a second home to young Antonio and his jump to Formula 3 is an obvious continuation for our relationship.
I’m sure that the Ferrari Driver Academy man won’t have problems in adapting himself to the driving required by the Dallara-Mercedes and by the Hankook tires, different from the ones used in Formula Renault 2.0. We’re looking forward to an exciting season”.
