It was a hectic race for PREMA Racing at Circuit de Barcelona, where the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship lined-up for its maiden European event of the season.
Mick Schumacher had a particularly tough start as he suffered a puncture during the opening lap. The young German didn’t back down though, as he managed to escape the gravel trap and get back to the pits, catching up with the pack thanks to the safety car.
Unfortunately, having his pit-stop before the pit window opened meant that he had to box a second time to fulfil the mandatory stop, and a later contact saw him drop down the order.
Sean Gelael posted a positive 9th place. While still missing the pole position spot for the reverse grid of tomorrow’s sprint race, the Indonesian delivered a very solid race starting from P13 and grabbed his third straight points finish.

"I can't really be satisfied with what happened in today‘s race, we had quite an unlucky race. The car balance was ok from what I felt with the hard tires but overall the race was not what I had hoped for. Now we have to look ahead and see what we can do tomorrow!"

"We finished ninth after starting 13th. It was a good enough result but obviously, we wanted top-8 and the reverse grid pole to start at the front tomorrow. Seeing the people who did the same strategy, option-prime, we gained positions. Our pace was quick but not quick enough to catch the guys on the alternative strategy in front of us and overtake. We still have some work for tomorrow as we are trying to catch up from ninth to get some points again."
