PREMA Powerteam came back home from Vallelunga with one win and a fully-dominated podium, as the Formula Regional European Championship was back in action for round 2 of 2019 after the Paul Ricard opener. The second weekend in the history of the series was heavily affected by rain, with race 3 cancelled due to torrential downpours.
The most impressive result for the team came in race 2, also held with a wet track on Sunday morning. Winning a fair battle with teammate Enzo Fittipaldi, Frederik Vesti cruised to take the victory and retained his championship lead. The Dane was followed under the checkered flag by Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi, who also got a second place in race 1 in a really valuable weekend for him.
British racer Olli Caldwell, who had faced tough luck in qualifying, completed the podium in race 2 with a massive recovery after ending up race 1 in P8.

"It has been an okay weekend. Qualy has not been optimal as I got P5, P3 and P2, but the pace was there and it could have been better. In Q1 our car was not optimal while I made a few mistakes in Q2 which cost us pole position. We will learn from that though. In race 1 I started and ended P5 and I was quite disappointed because I got stuck behind a slower driver: he was doing a good job defending. In race 2 in the wet, I fought with Isaac Blomqvist who was on pole and with Enzo, my teammate for the win in the final 10 minutes. It was quite cool and I was happy with the car. Then the final race was cancelled and it was a pity as I was in my best starting position. We will learn from this weekend and come back stronger in Hungaroring."

"This has been a good weekend. In qualifying 1 we struggled as a team but we got on top of it in qualifying 2 with three cars within the top-5. Race 1 was dry and a bit of a struggle. On this track it’s hard to overtake, especially with these cars. I got one position but, unfortunately, it was all I could do. Race 2 was wet and we were very strong. We managed the tires well on the drying track, so we came very strong at the end. A few more laps and we could have been even higher up the podium. But we got good points and we look forward to the next event."

"We got the best combined results of the whole pack this weekend. Maybe we made the wrong decision for Q1 so we were quite a bit off the pace, but we still got a good lap. Qualifying 2 was good as we took P2 despite getting a red flag while I was improving. In race 1 we went from P4 to P2 and it was one of my best starts this year, also because on this track it’s really difficult to overtake. In race 2 we started from P2 and led half of the race until my teammate had a bit more pace towards the end when we started dropping with the tires. Two P2s again, but I'm sure the win is coming soon. Prema did a great job and the car was great all weekend. We will keep working to improve and we're looking forward to the next race."
