The Formula Regional European Championship is all set for its second round of 2019 and for PREMA Powerteam it will be the first appearance in the series within Italian borders at Vallelunga. The team is coming from an extremely successful opening round at Circuit Paul Ricard, where the brand-new series, featuring a new Regional F3 car and concept for this season, made its breakthrough in international motorsport.
PREMA Powerteam will line-up at the 4.1-kilometre Vallelunga circuit with a hefty lead in the championship courtesy of three 1-2 finishes in France. On the other hand, the Roman venue will see an increase in terms of car count so there will be more contenders to fend off. Frederik Vesti, who secured two wins at Circuit Paul Ricard, definitely got off to a stellar start but he is trailed, just seven lengths back, by teammate Enzo Fittipaldi. The Ferrari Driver Academy protégé showed plenty of pace too so will definitely have some aces up his sleeve.
Last but not least, Olli Caldwell was really impressive too back in France, despite having got way fewer points than he deserved. The quick Brit, who clearly showed a winning potential is determined to strike back in round 2, on the same track where he delivered a sensational triple win in Formula 4 last year.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
“We definitely experienced a great start in France, and while we know we will be facing new rivals this weekend at Vallelunga, I am proud to have seen such a brilliant culmination to a winter’s worth of work. We will keep pushing, as we always do. These days, motorsport is so competitive that even the slightest letdown can change the outlook of an entire championship really quickly. We have three really talented and consistent drivers, and we are absolutely relying on them.”
