It is finally time to get back in action for Prema Racing as the FIA Formula 2 Championship lines-up for the first round of the year at Bahrain International Circuit. The 5.4-kilometre Al-Sakhir facility, a traditional venue for the series, will welcome the contenders this weekend for a highly anticipated event.
Mick Schumacher and Sean Gelael will return to racing duties after the winter break and preseason testing. The FIA Formula 3 European Champion, will make his competition debut in Formula 2 with the goal of learning as much as he can and adapting to a new environment. On the other hand, the 22-year-old Indonesian will be starting his fourth full season in the series and he is eager to capitalize on his progress and good showings of 2018.
The team is looking forward to the 2019 opener on a track that presents many challenges, starting from tire management, and relies on its driver combination to begin the year on a positive note.
René Rosin - Team Principal
"We will field two drivers that we know really well, and the chemistry is already there. By pairing a really promising young driver, and an experienced racer, I think we have found a good balance. What we have seen in the past is that every single component of our team has great potential, which is a great starting point. Bahrain will provide us with plenty of challenges, with its particular environment, but we are ready to work as hard as we can and we are confident ahead of what we expect to be an exciting year."
