The FIA Formula 3 European Championship is finally entering its decisive stage. The series is set for its penultimate round of the season and teams and drivers have now only six races to turn their title hopes into reality, starting with this weekend at Red Bull Ring. PREMA Theodore Racing will field its five Mercedes-powered Dallara racecars with the goal of finally reclaiming the lead of the drivers championship, while extending the margin atop the team classification.
Mick Schumacher will be back on track after a splendid weekend at Nürburgring, where he won three races out of three and got within three points of the series lead. The 19-year-old German experienced a sensational middle part of the season and is now the driver with the most wins this season with six race victories.
Schumacher is currently followed by team-mate, New Zealander Marcus Armstrong. The Kiwi rookie paid the price of qualifying woes in the previous round but maximized his points score. Standing fifth, Estonian Ralf Aron can never be counted out with his four wins, while Robert Shwartzman is on the move after scoring points in the last 12 races including three second-place finishes at Nürburgring. Last but not least, Chinese ace Guanyu Zhou is looking forward to rebounding from an ill-fated middle stint of the season.
René Rosin - Team Principal
“With two rounds to the end, this is definitely time to deliver. We are coming from a really positive run and we are absolutely determined to continue on the same path. The momentum is there and the drivers will have to deal with pressure which is always a key component. Schumacher has been the most impressive driver lately but we are sure that all our cars have the potential needed to fight at the front.”
