Just a few days after completing their 2014 race programs, Prema Powerteam went back on-track in Adria to start their early 2015 preparations as they lined-up for the Formula 4 Winter Trophy. At the end of a successful maiden season, the Venetian track hosted some of the cars that took part in the series, which was strongly supported by the FIA in its early run. Prema lined-up two new drivers on the same machinery that swept all the titles available this year with Lance Stroll and Brandon Maisano. Estonian Ralf Aron, coming from the Swedish and NEC Formula Renault 1.6 championships, was joined by Chinese racer Guan Yu Zhou, part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
The two drivers performed well in all sessions. After Friday's practice, which was dedicated to make them comfortable with the car and track, Aron cruised to two pole positions while Zhou completed the front row in the first qualifying segment before settling for third in the second one. As the laptimes proved incredibly close, both Prema drivers cruised to the podium in the races, with Aron delivering a spectacular win and Zhou finishing third in Race 1. In Race 2, they respectively ended up in second and third. The only driver able to match - at times - their pace was experienced Brazilian Joao Vieira, a veteran of 21 Formula 4 starts.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"Our activities never really stop and, once again, we went on-track to provide some fresh young drivers with an opportunity to showcase their talent. And that's what happened in the Formula 4 Winter Trophy at Adria. We lined-up with two really impressive prospects and they both delivered by handing us two poles, one win and four podium finishes, dealing with some experienced opponents. They worked really well and merged with the team. We hope to have them back with us soon".
