It hasn't been an easy race 2 for PREMA Racing at Circuit de Barcelona. As the FIA Formula 2 Championship completed its 2019 weekend in Spain, Sean Gelael and Mick Schumacher did not score points and ended up in P9 and P12 respectively.
The 20-year-old German racer started from P15 and put up a bold comeback, battling for the final points-paying position. Unfortunately, contact on the penultimate lap at the first corner brought him a 5-second penalty that dropped him down to P12.
Gelael eventually brought home another top-10 finish, showing good consistency and finishing in the same position of race 1.

“Overall it was not the weekend we would have wished for, since both races did not quite work out for me. We managed to make some positions at the start, but then the pace yesterday was a bit better than today on the hard tyres. Still we worked our way up. As for the incident in the last lap, I got hit and simply could not make it in before the bollard. Unfortunate, but that‘s the rules. Now the focus goes to Monaco, I extremely look forward to first time driving there.”

"I had a good start, I think we gained one or two positions up to seventh or eighth and until the middle of the race, we were quite competitive. I was sticking with the guys in front but then when they stabilized with a certain pace, we were not able to maintain it. We started degrading the rear tires too much and lost time. I think it was the biggest issue we had today. We tried something from yesterday to fix it, but it didn’t go our way. For sure, in Monaco it will be a completely different race again. Hopefully with the experience we have, we can do a decent job. But this weekend, we started off well in practice and ever since qualifying we were playing catch up. We hope to be back in the points in Monaco."
