Prema Powerteam successfully ended another run in Formula Renault 2000. After contributing to the history of the single-make series in its first 10 years, the Italian squad, directed by Angelo Rosin, finally completed the short 2012  program which was scheduled for this October. Prema started off at Mugello in the ALPS Series, then went to Spa-Francorchamps in the NEC and went back to the series promoted by Fast Lane at Barcelona.
Two Prema regulars were lined-up for the effort, Bruno Bonifacio and Luca Ghiotto, who scored an 8th and a 7th place were their best results at the end of a weekend plagued by some ill weather conditions. The first practice sessions were held in pouring rain, with Brazilian and the Italian ending up at the top of the charts.
In qualifying, as usually happens, the drivers also entered in the Eurocup had the chance to get more tracktime, dominating qualifying once back in the ALPS Series. Ghiotto scored 10th followed by Bonifacio. In Race 1, he recovered fast to a spot in the points zone, while Ghiotto lost ground in a first-lap melee to end up in 13th.
In Race 2, the Vicenza-based driver went from 12th (the second best laptime of qualifying counter) to 7th while his team-mate was forced to retire due to an off-track exit on lap 4. He was running in 14th.

Angelo Rosin, Team Principal

“We planned these three October races in order to prepare our 2013 run, but the results scored went beyond our best expectations. In three rounds we managed to score a podium finish, at Spa-Francorchamps, even though we still didn't have a perfect knowledge of the car and were racing with the only goal of gaining some experience.

"Luca and Bruno were able to build a good amount of experience recently and they're ready for a major step, joining an high-level championship which is key in a driver's career. Next year we'll line-up in the ALPS series, while we wait for the response of Renault concerning the team's selections for the 2013 Eurocup".
